Stuart Pearce hailed the spirit of his England side after they clinched their place in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship Finals.
The Three Lions, who progressed 5-4 on aggregate after a 2-2 draw with Wales at Villa Park, were forced to play most of the second half with ten men following the dismissal of Tom Huddlestone.
However, England produced a spirited performance to ensure their place in next summer's finals and Pearce was quick to praise his players after a pulsating contest in the Midlands.
"I'm fantastically proud of my players," beamed Pearce.
"To lose a man like that was a blow, but they stuck together and stood up in the face of adversity."
"We showed fantastic spirit and courage, especially after going down to ten men.
"We know we have to improve and get better but that's something we will do.
