England’s U19 squad took part in their first training session on French soil on Friday afternoon, as they ready themselves for Sunday’s European Championship opener with Austria.

The squad arrived at their Caen base in Normandy on Thursday evening, and after the customary UEFA meetings during Friday, Head Coach Noel Blake was able to get his players out and into work at Mondeville FC’s Stade de la Vallee Barrey a short drive away from the hotel.

After a full day of travelling on Thursday, it was a good opportunity for Blake and his staff to get the players back into the swing of things and they were certainly put through their paces with a variety of exercises.

With a lively warm-up and then small-sided passing and heading exercises, the training then progressed into a match-play style session with Sunday’s game now beginning to draw ever nearer.
