England U19s will have to overcome opposition from Spain, Switzerland and Montenegro in the Elite Qualifying Round if they are to reach the European U19 Championship Final stage for a fourth successive year.
The draw was made today at UEFA's base in Nyon, Switzerland and it was last season's England U19 captain Matthew James pulling the numbers out after England were crowned as Fair Play winners at July's Finals in northern France where they were beaten by Spain in the semi-final.
The Manchester United midfielder, currently on loan with Championship outfit Preston North End, picked England out in Group Two and Head Coach Noel Blake will now be plotting for his side to finish top of that group in order to progress to the Finals in Romania next July. The games will be played in Switzerland.
Also made today was the draw for the First Qualifying Round of the 2011-12 competition, but as one of the top-ranked nations, England received a bye to the Elite Round along with Spain and France.
