Noel Blake in charge for U18 game with Poland at Wycombe.

England v Poland
U18 International Match
7.30pm, Tuesday 16 November 2010
Adams Park, Wycombe Wanderers

England's U18s will be in action for the first time in over two years in November, when they host Poland in an international match at Adams Park in Wycombe.

The last time the U18s played a game came back in April 2008, when Austria were the visitors to Hartlepool United's Victoria Park and goals from Manchester United pair Danny Welbeck and Danny Drinkwater sealed a 2-0 victory on that occasion.

With no competitive games for the U18 players due to the annual UEFA tournaments and busy schedules at U17 and U19 level, it isn't often that they get much chance to feature in the fixture calendar.

However, with Noel Blake in charge of the squad for this game, it will give many of the players who featured in May's European U17 Championship winning side to pull on the Three Lions on home soil again.

Whilst a number of that group have already been involved with Blake's U19 squad this season, by taking charge for this match, it will give him a chance to look at more of the options that might be available to him over the coming months.

Ticket details for the game and squad announcement will be announced in due course.

What Do You Think?

  • I think noel blake should get his self upto newcastle united and have a look at Dan Taylor,5 goals so far this season.reminds me alot of Alan Shearer but with pace, very good header of ball.At the u18 level it would be a good chance to bring in and look at more players not just the squad from last year.By tatty (30 months ago)
  • Have a look at some other players other than just current U17's/U19's. One of the most promising I have seen (as a talent identification scout) and worth selection is the Tottenham lad Jesse Waller-Lassen. That's if Germany get him first!By pozzer (31 months ago)
  • Steady on gents! The squad hasn't even been named yet so a bit premature to start debating who should and shouldn't be in there! I can't remember the last time Benik Afobe wasn't in an England squad to be honest and Chuks Aneke has had his fitness problems. Let the boss get on with it, I'm sure every factor will be taken into consideration when the players are chosen! By Liono (31 months ago)
  • Fantastic call out by JJ there. I fail to see why the likes of Aneke and Afobe who link up so well at Arsenal don't get a look in on a regular basis, and the in-form Cofie at United and Bunn and Kane at Tottenham and Man City can't try their luck either. We have players who can easily play for other countries, and we should be locking them down to the 3 Lions early...making them proud to play for this country and not contemplating any other options.By AJ (31 months ago)
  • I hope you arrange a lot more of these U18 games. Other nations seem to have them but we do not. These players are a diverse bunch with a lot of quality, such as Aneke, Butland, Garbutt, Thorpe, Robinson, Morrison, Cofie and many others, which is why I think more than one game should be played. We should have an active U18 team, all the other top countries that properly develop players do. By JJ (31 months ago)
