John Peacock says the Lions will not underestimate Iceland when their Euro quest starts on Wednesday.

England Head Coach John Peacock insists he is not underestimating Iceland as the young Lions begin their quest for European Championship glory on Wednesday afternoon.

Peacock's charges will face the Scandinavian outfit at 4pm local time - one hour ahead of UK time - in their first group game. They will then face Belgium and Holland on Friday and Monday respectively.

"We will not be taking them lightly," said Peacock. "We have looked at some DVDs of their qualifying from the elite group. They had a difficult group with Portugal and Russia but managed to get through."

Peacock expects Iceland to be tough to break down.

"I think, like other Scandinavian sides, they will be difficult to overcome," he added. "I would expect them to be cautious, happy to defend in their half and relying on one or two good players. They have one or two who we will have to keep an eye on."

The Head Coach knows England might have to match Iceland's physicality too, but added that the mood in the camp is upbeat.

"The attitude in the camp is good. They are all looking forward to the game. They have been focused since meeting up. They are a very good group to work with, which makes my job a lot easier," he said.

If the European Championship trophy is not enough of carrot, England are also playing for a place at the World Championships later this year in Korea. The four Semi-Finalists, plus the winner of the fifth-sixth play-off will guarantee a spot at the showpiece event.

"The rewards are there - that's a massive incentive," said Peacock.
