Squad named for Ballymena trip
Monday, 14 March, 2011
Kenny Swain selects his group for re-arranged game in Northern Ireland.
England U16s Head Coach Kenny Swain has named his squad for the penultimate game in the Sky Sports Victory Shield, which takes place later this month.
The Young Lions travel to Ballymena for the match with Northern Ireland and will be hoping that it's a case of 'third time lucky' after previously making the journey on two occasions, only for the game to be postponed due to the weather conditions in late 2010.
With two Victory Shield games still to play for England, Swain's side remain in with a chance of lifting the title again this season due to the results elsewhere but he will also be using this match to cast his eye over the talent at his disposal in this age group.
Several of the players selected in this 18-man squad have already experienced life with England on the previous trips to Belfast, but are also still awaiting their first caps and an opportunity to impress on the pitch.
England's final Victory Shield game, against Scotland at Morecambe's Globe Arena, will take place a week later on Wednesday 30 March and the squad for that game will be named next week.
