Squad named for Shield decider

Thursday, 10 November, 2011

Kenny Swain selects his squad for Scotland trip.

England U16s Head Coach Kenny Swain has named his squad for the final Sky Sports Victory Shield game against Scotland later this month.

After two games and two wins on English soil in the competition so far this season, the Young Lions will now be tested on the road as they travel to the far north of Scotland and Inverness for the deciding fixture of this season's Shield.

Swain's team could already be confirmed as Shield victors for an 11th successive season should the Northern Ireland v Wales result on 16 November end in anything other than a Northern Ireland win. If not, then by avoiding defeat in the game at Inverness Caledonian Thistle's Tulloch Stadium and England will be champions again.

There is an 18-man squad for the match and one new face in the shape of Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, who receives his first call-up for the Young Lions whilst Chelsea's Charlie Colkett will be hoping to pick up his first England cap after being forced out of the last squad through injury.
