Squad named for Scotland
Thursday, 24 March, 2011
An 18-man squad has been selected for Victory Shield decider next week.
The squad for England U16s Sky Sports Victory Shield decider with Scotland has been named today, with Kenny Swain's side knowing that only a win against the Auld Enemy in Morecambe will be enough to secure a tenth successive title in the competition.
Swain's side set up a grandstand finish to the annual tournament on Wednesday night with a 3-0 win in Northern Ireland and the Head Coach has selected a completely different squad for this game given the quick turnaround.
A number of the players selected on this occasion did feature earlier in the season in the Victory Shield opener with Wales last October, or the 0-0 draw with Slovenia in February.
However, there are three new names in the squad in the shape of Tottenham Hotspur 'keeper Luke McGee, Derby County forward Kwame Thomas and Aston Villa's Callum Robinson.
Scotland will arrive in Lancashire in determined mood to snatch the Shield off England and if they avoid defeat, then Ross Mathie's side will be crowned as winners.
