Four first-half goals set the England U16 team on their way to a resounding 6-0 victory over Gabon in their second match of the Montaigu Tournament in France.

It was the first time this set of players has played against a non-European nation and the result means England have now garnered six points from their opening two matches in this U16 friendly tournament, after their 3-1 victory over Ukraine yesterday.

There were first England goals for Nathan Redmond, Nick Powell, Max Clayton and Jack Barmby, who got two, while Blair Turgott scored the sixth.

Gabon were forced to play with ten men for most of the match, losing their goalkeeper after 21 minutes. Barmby scored his second from the resulting free-kick. The African side then went down to nine men with five minutes to go and England capitalised through Turgott.

The other match in the group finished Ukraine 4-0 Japan and England take on Japan on Saturday in their final group game.
