Kenny Swain has named his England U16 squad for the Victory Shield opener against Wales on 15 October. In Jordan Cousins and Matthias Fanimo, this 18-man squad boasts two players who already have experience of international football. Both players made their U16 debut in last season's Victory Shield, coming off the bench in England's 2-0 victory over Scotland at Sincil Bank. Cousins then travelled to France in April where he helped England retain the Montaigu Tournament.
However, this fixture against Wales, which will be staged at Huish Park, represents a first international call-up for the other 16 squad members and they will all be looking to impress.
England go in search of their ninth straight Victory Shield title and also host Northern Ireland on Thursday 5 November, before travelling to Scotland on Thursday 26 November. Last season's Victory Shield match against Wales saw England edge a tight contest courtesy of a late Benik Afobe strike.
