Head Coach Peter Sturgess picks squad for World Cup qualifiers.
England Futsal Head Coach Peter Sturgess has selected his squad for next month's FIFA Futsal World Cup Preliminary Qualifying Round, which takes place in Latvia in late October.
Sturgess' men will face opposition from the host nation, Cyprus and San Marino and know that if they can finish top of the group then that will be enough to secure progress to the Main Qualifying Round of the competition.
If they finish in second place, there is still a chance to progress so Sturgess and the players travel east in a positive frame of mind, particularly given their preparations for the games.
"The build-up has been different from all previous competitions in that it has included a training camp in Murcia, Spain, hosted by one of the country’s top professional Futsal clubs; El Pozo," explained Sturgess.
"The players and coaching staff gained a real insight into the professional approach and training methods adopted by the club and the experience has given a real focus for the challenges that lie ahead in a tough qualifying group that includes the hosts Latvia as well as Cyprus and San Marino.
"The squad is determined to give a good account of itself to further demonstrate the development that has taken place over the last 18 months. The squad is still a very young one, but each player is improving their Futsal knowledge and experiences. The games in Latvia can only benefit them further."The Squad
