Great Britain 1-1 Ireland

Great Britain picked up their first point in the seven-a-side football competition at the Paralympic Games, following a 1-1 draw with Ireland.

The nations were seperated by just one goal overall, but neither team progress to the Semi-Final stage and their hopes of a medal are dashed.

Lyndon Lynch's side found themselves trailing on 42 minutes when Joseph Markey put Ireland in front. However, Michael Barker levelled matters just three minutes later and that's how the game ended.

Great Britain will now face Holland in the first 5th-8th place play-off, while Ireland will meet China in the other match.

Ukraine and Russia are both unbeaten in the competition, with the Russians taking on Iran and Ukraine going head to head with Brazil for a spot in the Gold medal final.

Iran 3-0 Great Britain

A second defeat for Lydon Lynch's side means that qualification for the Semi-Finals, a a chance to play for medals, is now not possible for Great Britain.

From as early as the third minute against Iran Team GB were chasing the game when Moslem Akbari opened the scoring.

Abdolreza Karimzadah extended Iran's lead on the 28th minute in front of a healthy 5,500 crowd at the Olympic Green Hockey Field, before he wrapped up the win with his second strike eleven minutes later. 

Iran and Ukraine now meet on Friday to see who tops Pool B. England take on Ireland and both will be looking for their first points of the tournament.

Great Britain's first match of the Paralympic Games was against a strong Ukraine side starting their defense of the gold medal won in Athens four years earlier.

Ivan Shkvarlo scored a hat-trick for the Ukrainians, while Taras Dutko added two goals. Denys Ponomaryov, Anatolii Shevchyk and captain Volodymyr Antonyuk all scored one goal each.

Great Britain had equalized through Matthew Dimbylow, but failed to maintain the momentum and conceded three goals in a five-minute passage of play in the first half.
