England C will warm up for their 2012 International Challenge Trophy campaign with a representative friendly against Gibraltar next month.
The game will take place in Gibraltar’s Victoria Stadium on 15 November and will give England C boss, Paul Fairclough, a chance to run the rule over the country’s top players from outside the Football League before the ICT programme of fixtures begin in February.
“It is down to the players to be consistent at club level and competition for places is fierce,” said Fairclough who saw his England C side finish as runners up at last season’s ICT Final against Portugal in Northampton.
England C have been drawn against Belgium, Italy and competition newcomers Russia in the ICT group stage and Fairclough sees the Gibraltar game as a good tune up for his side: “We met Gibraltar in the Four Nations Tournament a years ago and they proved to be very determined and dogged. We managed to beat them but not without a few scares.
“We have had enough time to recover from the defeat against Portugal in the final last season and this is a fresh start with new challenges and great opportunities."
