Paul Fairclough names his squad for crunch clash with Estonia.
Estonia v England C
International Challenge Trophy
Group B
2pm (BST) Tuesday 12 October, 2010
Kadriorg Stadium, Tallinn
England C Manager Paul Fairclough has named his 16-man squad to travel to Tallinn for the crucial International Challenge Trophy Group decider against Estonia on Tuesday 12 October.
He has recalled Tom Cadmore, Sean Newton, Kyle Nix and Nick Wright, while a number of players who made an impression in last month’s 2-2 draw with Wales have retained their place.
One player who will be missing is Rushden & Diamonds keeper Dale Roberts, who has failed to recover from the injury he suffered against the Welsh. Alfreton Town keeper Patrick Gamble, who missed the Wales game due to injury, finally gets the opportunity to represent his country.
Fairclough knows that the game will not be easy. He travelled to Tallinn last week to see the Republic of Ireland defeat the Estonians 1-0 and he was impressed with what he saw.
“The Estonians played some neat and tidy football. They were a technical side with some bright young players mixed with five players with full International caps.”
“Estonia are still in with a chance of qualifying despite the defeat to the Irish. They know a victory will send them through as Group B winners. I am aware that we need only secure a draw to go through but we will be going to Tallinn to secure all three points.”
