England v Northern Ireland
International Friendly Tournament
New Ross Celtic FC
30 March 2005
England got off to a flying start in the Women's U17 International Tournament here in County Cork, beating Northern Ireland 4-1.
Captain Danielle Buet gave Jane Ebbage's side the lead after just six minutes and her effort was soon matched by Arsenal's Mikaela Howell, who made it 2-0 to the Three Lions five minutes later.
Northern Ireland did get a goal back just before half-time but it was proving to be a tough afternoon for the Northern Irish defence and Leyton Orient's Lizzie Edwards, who had only come on four minutes earlier, sealed the game with her side's third goal.
There was just enough time for a fourth strike when Leeds United's Jessica Clarke beat the 'keeper in the third minute of injury time.
England's final match is on 31 March at 7.00pm at RSC Waterford versus the hosts, the Republic of Ireland.
