Profile
Having made a courageous return to action for England, Faye was in inspired form as the Three Lions showed their desire and determination in China in 2007.
Having suffered a second cruciate ligament injury a year ago, Faye missed out on England's qualifier with France that saw them clinch their place at the World Cup - but the motivation of getting back in time for China made her more determined than ever to come back flying.
Faye returned as captain for the tournament, and covered herself in glory with defiant performances in each of England's World Cup encounters. Against Germany, the only game that the eventual winners failed to win, Faye was named 'Player of the Match' for her efforts.
Standing at six foot, Faye uses her height to good effect as a central defender. Faye has won countless medals in her time at Arsenal, with five Premier League titles in a row and a UEFA Women's Cup triumph in 2007 among the highlights.
Early on in 2007 Faye was boosted by an MBE for services to sport in the New Year Honours list.
Faye also led England to the Final of the European Championship in 2009, where they lost out to Germany.
