After eight games, 17 goals, and a year that saw England qualify for their third major tournament in a row, it's time to find out who the fans choice is for the Nationwide England Women's Player of the Year. Today we look at Sue Smith, who made four substitute appearances in 2008.

Sue Smith made four England appearances in 2008, bringing her total number of caps up to 69.
A tricky midfielder with 12 years of international football under her belt, Smith’s experience helped earn The Three Lions a place at next summer’s European Championship in Finland.
England needed only a point to qualify against Spain in their final group game and with the scores locked at 2-2, Smith replaced Rachel Yankey in the 82nd minute to settle English nerves and help secure a spot at Euro 2009.
Smith also had a part to play in England’s penultimate qualifier against Czech Republic. Hope Powell’s side were a goal down at half time, but Emily Westwood equalised shortly after the restart. Smith came off the bench just after the hour mark and England scored four goals in seven minutes to ease to a 5-1 victory.
Smith two other appearances were also from the substitutes bench against Germany and Sweden, though these two friendly internationals ended in defeat, 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.
The 29-year-old also played in last season’s FA Women’s Cup Final, where Leeds Carnegie lost out to a rampant Arsenal outfit.
