As she prepares for the final game in Group A, against New Zealand, Mo Marley has admitted that she was pleased to take a point from England's encounter with Nigeria.
After taking the lead through Natasha Dowie in first-half injury time, Nigeria were forced to come out strongly in the second period, and Marley feels that of the two coaches she would probably be happier at the result.
"I think I am the more pleased of the two coaches," Marley explained. "This match could have easily gone in favour of Nigeria, so I am very happy to take the point."
That assessment stems from a respect for the opposition, and with England currently holding an advantage over Nigeria on goal difference, that could be key to topping the group.
"You have to give credit to Nigeria," Marley added. "They are an excellent side. They stopped us from playing our game. They used the ball better than we did, they pressed us and stopped us well."
England face New Zealand in their final game on Wednesday evening, knowing that another draw will be enough to see them into the quarter-finals, but they are more than likely to need victory to see them through as group winners.
With Nigeria facing hosts Chile at the same time, England can only focus on their own result and getting what is required from La Florida to progress to the latter stages.
