Vote for your star performer

Tuesday, 19 January, 2010

You have until 31 January to vote for your England Women’s Player of 2009.

Nationwide England Women’s Player of the Year 2009

After lifting the Cyprus Cup last February and then reaching a European Final for the first time in 25 years (just two months after the U19 side lifted their equivalent), England Women's Head Coach, Hope Powell, believes 2009 was the most successful year English Women’s football has ever experienced.

Now we are asking you to name your star performer from the last 12 months.

Was it top goalscorer, Fara Williams, or midfield maestro, Katie Chapman, after her performances in Finland? Will Kelly Smith get your vote for having the best goalscoring ratio of the year with seven goals in ten games, or will it be Faye White, who led the side to that European Final? A number of younger players also shone last year, so the likes of Karen Carney, Jess Clarke and Laura Bassett cannot be discounted.

Powell called upon 31 players in 2009, but who will get your vote? Use the poll on the right to make your selection. You'll need a FAN, but you can sign up for a free one by clicking the FAN button at the top of the page and you'll then be able to take part in this and future polls and competitions.
