England's Under-21s head back to Hull's KC Stadium for the fourth time on 19 August and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run there.

England had met Finland at Boothferry Park, Hull's former home, in 1977, running out 8-1 winners with Tony Woodcock scoring a hat-trick on his Under-21 debut. It was 23 years before they returned to Humberside as the Tigers welcomed David Platt's team to their brand new arena.

A 3-2 friendly win over Serbia & Montengro was sealed with two minutes left as substitute Darren Bent headed home after an excellent Serbia & Montenegro side had twice fought back to level after goals from Shola Ameobi and Jermain Defoe.

In February 2004, history repeated itself as Bent again scored a late winner just as he did seven months previously. Same player, same time, same ground, same 3-2 scoreline.

However, Holland were the victims this time with England's earlier strikes coming from debutants Dean Ashton and David Bentley.

The game also marked a then-record attendance in the short history KC Stadium, as 25,280 enjoyed the friendly win.

The last visit to Kingston-upon-Hull, in March 2005, was the most important - a European Under-21s qualifying group match against Germany.

On this occasion, it was the Young Lions who were scuppered by a late goal, substitute Roberto Hilbert's 88th minute equaliser to kept England and Germany level on points at the top of Group Six.

Bent and Ashton's quick-fire responses after Stefan Kiessling had opened the scoring for the visitors had put England in the driving seat just after the break, but Hilbert fired home from 25 yards to level in the closing moments.

The goal was harsh on the hosts, but it added to an impressive tally of goals in the city.

The record stands at;
Played 4, Goals For 16, Goals Against 7. That's an average of 5.75 goals per game.

Slovenia stand in England's way to extending that run in their first game of the new season. If you want to be there to cheer on Stuart Pearce's side, tickets are available from the KC Stadium Ticket Office.
