Johnson, who has just turned 20, will be aiming to help England win three points so that they can return home with the maximum six points from six games.

Though he has yet to start for his club side Chelsea, Johnson is still enjoying the start to the season which has seen the Blues rise to second in the Premiership.

"I would be enjoying it more if I was playing but my time will come," says Johnson. "It's not so much what I need to do - the manager knows what I can do. I just need to wait for my chance."

With Johnson not being involved in too much match action at Chelsea so far this term, the opportunities that playing for England offer are all too obvious.

"This season I've only played for my country so obviously it's very important [to play international football] as it's the only chance I've had so far to show what I can do," Johnson added.

Peter Taylor has made a good start to his second spell in charge of the England Under-21s, winning both matches so far and to all observers one can see he has a special rapport with his players.

"He's a top man," Johnson says smiling. "He gets involved in the banter, he likes all that."
