England will be heading to the Stadium of Light later this month for the exciting Under-20 international between England and Italy.

Part of the international match series which also features meetings with Switzerland and Germany, Les Reed is using the matches to prepare the young lions for the World Youth Championships in Spring of next year.

The home encounter had originally been scheduled to take place at St James Park but the Magpies' continued European involvement has now prevented this.

"Obviously it's a shame that the lads will not be able to step out at St James because it's a fantastic venue," Reed told us, "but we're delighted to be going to the Stadium of Light.

"It's a magnificent stadium - one that should bring the best of the players." The match is to take place on Wednesday, November 27.

England opened their account in this match series with an outstanding 2-1 victory over Germany. Click here for a match report.
