The U19 European Championships may only have finished last month but England are back in action on 9 September when they face the Netherlands in a friendly at Shrewsbury Town’s Prostar Stadium.

The game ushers in a new era for Brian Eastick’s side with several new faces set to feature amongst those that travelled to the Czech Republic tournament in July.

England will be using the game as a warm up for this season’s Euro campaign, with the Young Lions facing Albania, Serbia and hosts Northern Ireland at a mini qualifying tournament in October:

“There’s plenty of players in the squad with big game experience now," said Eastick.

"Some of the lads will have been in the Czech Republic and there will be a group of lads who took part in the U17 World Cup last year as well, so that’s all invaluable at this level.

Holland may not have reached the European Championships but Eastick isn’t underestimating the nation that gave the world Total Football: “It’s an old cliché now but there aren’t any easy games in international football and we know that the Dutch will be a decent outfit with talented individuals.

“Technically they’ll be very strong and I’d be astonished if they didn’t play a very attacking 4-4-3 style formation so we’re looking forward to a good game ahead of yet another busy season.”

Once again, The FA are offering Charter Standard clubs 30 free tickets for the game at Shrewsbury Town while group bookings of 15 or more means that you can watch the Young Lions in action for just 50p. Click on the booking forms at the top of the page for more details.
