VIDEO: England U19s 4-1 Poland

Everton's James Vaughan grabbed a second half brace as England came from behind to overpower Poland at Dean Court.

Jamie Annerson is eager to build on his fine performance against Poland last month, and continue his strong progress for England.

After playing the entire game at Dean Court in February, his first full 90 minutes for the U19s, Annerson wants as much action as he can get.

Jamie told TheFA.com: "For a goalkeeper you need to play as much as possible so to play the full game against Poland was good for me.

"It adds to your confidence and you can prepare fully for a game when you know you're starting the game.

"It's a major honour to play for your country and play with the best players at your age group.

"You always want to be selected and you can't just expect to be in there, you have to go back to your club and work hard to make sure you're considered the next time."

It is a feature of England games at all levels to see fans turning out in their thousands to cheer on the team, and Annerson admits that is one of the most pleasing aspects of playing for your country.

"You see the fans with their flags and their banners and it makes a really good atmosphere for the game, and it gives you that added motivation when the fans are behind you," Jamie explained.

"In the squad we have now there are a lot of players who are playing first team football every week, so obviously the fans are aware of them and want to watch them in action.

"The lads have all been brought up through the academy system playing attractive attacking football, so we certainly try and give value for money when you come and watch us."

In May England face three qualifiers to make it to the European U19 Championship in Austria, and Jamie is hoping that home advantage will play a part.

"We've got a really tough group, but if we play like we did against Poland then we should do enough to get through.

"Playing at home with the fans behind us, that should give us that extra edge."

On the domestic front it is also looking good for Jamie as continues to progess at Bramall Lane.

Jamie admitted: "It's gone really well for me in the last few months. Obviously as a goalkeeper there is only one position up for grabs so it's going to be difficult to break into the team.

"I was on the bench in the League Cup and The FA Cup, and Neil Warnock doesn't normally have a goalkeeper among the substitutes, so that was a boost."
