UEFA Qualifying Tournament
12-17 October 2007
England

Brian Eastick has named his squad for the forthcoming UEFA Qualifying Tournament which will be held in England.

The U19 Head Coach has called up 18 players for next month's competition where the Three Lions will meet Iceland, Romania and Belgium.

Scott Sinclair, who came to prominence during his loan spell at Plymouth last season, has been included alongside three of his Chelsea club-mates - Ryan Bertrand, Sam Hutchinson and Lee Sawyer.

Sawyer was on target during the recent 4-0 win over Belarus and the three other scorers that night - Febian Brandy, Andy Carroll and Topi Obadeyi - have also been selected.

Two youngsters who went to Korea for the U17 World Cup this summer were given the nod by Eastick.

Krystian Pearce, who scored against Syria in that tournament, and highly regarded goalkeeper Jason Steele, who didn't feature in Korea due to the excellent form of Alex Smithies, are amongst the 18 named despite being a young younger than the rest of the squad..

Leicester's Joe Mattock would have joined those two in Korea but for injury, but the left-back has the chance to show what he can do after being included by Eastick.

Eastick, speaking to TheFA.com after the win over Belarus, is confident England will do well.

"We all expect to do well against Iceland, Belgium and Romania next month and we’ll be looking to progress to the Elite section and then push onto the finals in the Czech Republic next year.

"The preliminary qualifiers will be tough as its three intense games in a short space of time but they’ll also be more time to work with the players on the training ground and get the little things right."
