England U17s ended their group games in the Nordic Tournament on Thursday evening, when they were held to a goal-less draw by Norway.

After winning their first two games, the Young Lions had hopes of reaching the final of the competition, but Norway's superior goal scoring record in the three Group B games means that they will now face hosts Sweden in the final whilst England will play Denmark in the third-fourth play play-off.

However, England can consider themselves unfortunate not to have won this game after enjoying the better of the first half possession and chances.

The Young Lions created a number of opportunities whilst Norway struggled to create much at the other end.

The game turned shortly after the half time break though, when England lost midfielder Billy Knott after he collected a second booking and was shown a red card.

That gave the Norwegians more impetus, but England had enough to keep them at bay and finish their group games without defeat.

Coach Kenny Swain had spoken of the importance of the team's performance prior to the game and he will be pleased with the display, particularly given the circumstances in the second half.
