England 3-1 USA
England Under-16s
Montaigu Tournament, France
Friday 8th April 2004, 17.00 (BST)
Having lost to the Ivory Coast in the opening game of the Montaigu Tournament yesterday, John McDermott's side pulled together to record an impressive 3-1 victory against the side from across the Atlantic.
A capable US team had already picked up a point in the Tournament, drawing 1-1 with Italy in their opening match, and things looked good for them again as they took the lead against England on 46 minutes.
However, the U16s provided an immediate response through Myles Weston, and their perseverance paid further dividends on 66 minutes when Joe Garner put the England side into the lead. Two minutes later the game was sealed in England's favour, with Darryl Knight's goal rounding off a tremendous performance.
England have a day off tomorrow, but are back in action on Saturday with their final group match, against the Italians. The tournament comes to an end on Easter Monday with the play-off games and you can catch up with all the latest results here with TheFA.com.
