A fantastic young prospect, Darren scored 56 times in 116 starts for Ipswich before signing with Premiership Charlton in June 2005. The step up to the top flight hasn't prevented the lightning-quick striker from finding the net however, as he claimed five goals in his first four matches for the Addicks and was crowned Premiership player of the month for August.

Bent has also been prolific for England's Under-21s side, claiming the 'super-sub' tag with nine goals from 14 appearances despite only making five starts. He got his reward with a call-up to the Senior squad for August 2005's friendly against Denmark.

Was handed his first England cap as a starter against Uruguay in the March 2006 friendly at Anfield.
