With Paul Robinson departing for Spurs in the summer of 2004, Scott was handed the perfect opportunity to claim the number one jersey at Leeds.

After being picked up from local club Cleator Moor Celtic, Scott was with the Leeds Academy and reserve sides for little more than a year before earning his first start - a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Following some impressive displays for the Elland Road club, he earned a move back to the Premiership with Liverpool in January 2005.

By this time Scott was a well-established member of the England Under-21s having made his debut against Holland in February 2004.

In the first few months of his Anfield career enjoyed a number of fine performances including their 2-1 Champions League quarter-final win over Juventus and these were soon followed by his first call to the senior England squad for the USA Tour in May 2005.

Carson spent the last two months of the 2005/6 season at Sheffield Wednesday on loan, playing nine games.

Carson has agreed to join Charlton Athletic on-loan for the 2006/7 season.
