Wayne is a naturally left-sided defender who likes to break forward. He started his career in midfield and is capable of delivering a deadly cross.

A rapid ascent with England saw him coming on twice as a sub at the 2002 World Cup. A big-money signing for Chelsea, he has a challenge on at both club and country level to become first choice.

Bridge spent the second half of the 2005/6 season at Fulham.
