Emile scored goals for fun for England's Under-21s and earned his first start for the full side a month before joining Liverpool in a £11m deal from Leicester. Powerful, quick and capable of terrorising defenders, he impressed the England coaching set-up with his versatility. Happiest as an out-and-out striker, he can also play down the left.

He completed a £6.25m move to Birmingham City in May 2004 and was brought back into the England squad for the World Cup qualifiers in March this year.
