Still yet to make his full England debut, Chris is a highly regarded young 'keeper with plenty of Under-21 experience to his name. The former Coventry City man joined Liverpool for £6m in August 2001 and has been battling with Jerzy Dudek for the number 1 slot at Anfield.
Injuries have also played a big part in Chris's fortunes and after gaining a regular place in Gerard Houllier's starting eleven, he sustained a bad ankle injury in an FA Cup tie at Crystal Palace ruling him out for the rest of the 2002/2003 season. Then a broken finger against Bolton on Boxing Day 2003 kept Chris from adding to his seven Liverpool appearances until late February.
However, just five games later, a training ground wrist injury ended his season and with it went his chances of representing England at Euro 2004.
In the summer of 2006, Chris agreed a long-term long from Anfield to Wigan |
