England will be unable to call upon the services of strikers Andrew Johnson and Dean Ashton in the Euro 2008 Qualifiers against Estonia and Russia, after the pair were withdrawn from the squad through injury on Monday morning.
Ashton picked up a medial knee ligament injury in West Ham United’s game with Aston Villa on Saturday, whilst Everton striker Johnson, fresh from scoring his first goal of the season on Sunday, is suffering with an ankle injury and will not join up with the Three Lions.
The squad meet on Tuesday in order to prepare for Saturday’s clash with Estonia at Wembley and then the trip to face Russia in Moscow on Wednesday 17 October.
