Trinidad & Tobago v England
International Friendly
5.30pm (local time), Sunday 1 June 2008
Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain

Fabio Capello's England will play Trinidad & Tobago in a friendly in Port of Spain on Sunday evening.

It will be the senior team's first ever fixture in the Caribbean. But other England sides have visited that attractive part of the world in the past.

England's U18s played two friendlies inside three days in Port of Spain in March 1991. They beat their Trinidad & Tobago counterparts 4-0 and then lost 3-1 to Mexico.

The England teams included Andy Cole (Arsenal), Jamie Redknapp (Liverpool), Lee Clark (Newcastle United) and Scott Minto (Charlton Athletic).

Much earlier, in the summer of 1969, the England amateur team played six matches on a Caribbean tour. The results were 4-0 v Bahamas (Nassau), 0-0 and 3-0 v Trinidad & Tobago (Port of Spain and San Fernando), 8-0 and 8-0 v Guyana (both in Georgetown) and 2-0 v Netherlands Antilles (Willemstad).

England included Rod Haider in all six matches, the Hendon midfielder who was capped a record 65 times at amateur level.

England's only game with Trinidad and Tobago at senior level was the group game in Nuremberg during the World Cup of 2006. Goals from Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard sealed a 2-0 win on that occasion.
