England hero Micah Richards could hardly contain his joy after scoring his first goal for the Three Lions.
The Manchester City defender capped a fine performance against Israel by heading in his side's third goal before darting off in celebration.
"When I made my debut I said it was the best day of my life," said the 19 year old. "But I think this is the best day of my life.
"I'm very proud of myself but very proud of the team as well, not just the goal but the three points. We've had a bit of stick over the last couple of weeks but today we showed what we can do."
But it wasn't just the goal which earned Richards rave reviews - he was imperious in defence, unbeatable in the air and energetic in attack. His combination with fellow goalscorer Shaun Wright-Phillips on the right kept the Israelis busy all afternoon.
"I thought all the boys were outstanding," added Richards. "It was a good, solid team performance. Hopefully we can take that into Wednesday."
The victory over Israel was just part one of a crucial Euro qualification double-header - next up are Guus Hiddink's Russia.
Richards and his England team-mates can expect a more vigorous test on Wednesday but confidence amongst the Three Lions should be high after a polished display.
"We have done it against Israel, now we have to take it on to Russia. We can't dwell on this game," he added.
