Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole says that every England player is determined to qualify for the World Cup. |
Joe Cole has vowed the England players will run through brick walls in order to get the Three Lions to the World Cup.
After missing out on qualification for this summer's Euro 2008, Cole wants to put the past behind him and concentrate on the road to South Africa 2010.
"It was hard to watch the games over the summer," he said.
"It wasn't a nice feeling but you have to put that behind you. We want to fire on all cylinders and push on - I can guarantee we have 23 men who are ready to run through brick walls for each other."
Cole is also convinced England are going in the right direction under Manager Fabio Capello.
"The manager's pedigree is second to none," he added.
"He is a great leader and has the respect of the players. We are all looking to improve and we really want to do well."
Meanwhile, Capello will name his permanent England captain on Tuesday and Cole believes there are more than two candidates for the role.
"We have leaders and captains all over the pitch; John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Gareth Barry and Ashley Cole are all capable," he said.
England face the Czech Republic on Wednesday in the final game before World Cup qualification begins and Cole added: "The proper stuff starts now. We don't want to live in the past, we are together and positive about the new campaign."
