VIDEO: Fabio Capello scores
Fabio Capello scores with three minutes left on the clock to give Italy a famous win over England at Wembley.

Fabio Capello was a top-class midfielder who won the Italian Serie A Championship with Juventus (three times) and AC Milan. He was capped 32 times for Italy and once scored a goal that beat England at Wembley.

Sir Alf Ramsey's side was still reeling from a Wembley draw with Poland in the previous month that had signalled our exit from the World Cup. The 1974 Finals in West Germany would now take place without England, winners in '66 and quarter finalists in '70.

Italy came to London for a friendly in November 1973, staying at the Wembley Hilton, a couple of minutes' walk from the stadium. The match was played on the 14th, a Wednesday night, and the teams lined up like this:-

ENGLAND: Peter Shilton, Paul Madeley, Emlyn Hughes, Colin Bell, Roy McFarland, Bobby Moore, Mick Channon, Tony Currie, Peter Osgood, Allan Clarke, Martin Peters

ITALY: Dino Zoff, Tarcisio Burgnich, Luciano Spinosi, Romeo Benetti, Mauro Bellugi, Giacinto Facchetti, Franco Causio, Fabio Capello, Giorgio Chinaglia, Gianni Rivera, Luigi Riva

The great Bobby Moore was winning his 108th and last cap and it turned out to be another frustrating night for England before a crowd of 88,000. The home side were on top throughout, but couldn't find a way past Zoff who was keeping his tenth consecutive clean sheet for the Italians.

Three minutes from time Italy scored. The Swansea-born Chinaglia outpaced Moore before firing the ball in. Shilton palmed it down and Capello, following up, seized on the rebound to score.
