Everton defender Joleon Lescott has paid tribute to his England teammates for helping him enjoy his debut for the Three Lions at Wembley.
Birmingham-born Lescott fulfilled a lifelong ambition by representing his country when he came on as a half time substitute for Rio Ferdinand, and he was quick topass his gratitude on to the likes of Joe Cole and Sol Campbell for making him feel comfortable at Wembley.
Lescott told TheFA.com: "It was great, it's always been an ambition of mine to represent my country and I've done that now, hopefully I can continue playing well for my club and keep being selected in squads.
"The crowd were exceptional and the boys made me feel easy, Joe Cole especially. He was showing for me all the time and talking to me, so it was a great experience."
While Lescott came into the game in the centre of defence alongside Sol Campbell, injury to Ashley Cole forced a defensive reshuffle that saw Lescott switched to left back. But having played there for Everton this season, Lescott was more than comfortable in both positions.
"I've played there for my club and Joe Cole really helped me, I also had the experience of Sol Campbell alongside me so they made it as easy as possible."
England made a flying start to the game with goals from Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Rooney and an own goal from Taavi Rahn putting the Three Lions firmly in the driving seat after half an hour, and Lescott admitted that was something Steve McClaren was looking for from the meeting with Estonia.
Lescott explained: "The boss made it clear that he wanted a quick start from the boys and they got that, so that made it easier for me and the rest of the subs when we came on.
"The atmosphere is quality, everyone is really professional and knows the job in hand and we're all pushing in the right direction."
