John Terry says England’s players are determined to qualify for Euro 2008 and begin their busy autumn with a win against Israel at Wembley on Saturday.
England are fourth in Group E, and victory against second-placed Israel is key for Steve McClaren's side to make it to Austria and Switzerland for the Finals next summer.
And Three Lions captain Terry is confident the team will succeed. "We have set our standards and we are all desperate to maintain them," revealed Terry at a press conference on Friday.
"We must win the game to climb up the group table, and we are confident that we will.
"There is a lot of expectation, but we are international players and that’s why we are here.
"There’s no place to hide at Wembley and we want to help the fans to play a major part in helping us in our home games.
"Hopefully everyone sings and gets us going.
"Without doubt it’s my biggest test as captain of England, but we have the players who can step up and can make sure we get the right result."
