Owen Hargreaves has been ruled out of England's Euro 2008 Qualifier against Russia and has returned home.
The Manchester United midfielder missed the Three Lions 3-0 win over Israel on Saturday after picking up a thigh injury.
He was the first player to report back to the team hotel on Sunday but, following a thorough assessment from the England medical staff, a scan and a fitness test today, it was decided that Hargreaves will not be ready in time for Wednesday's match at Wembley and he has gone back to Manchester.
Meanwhile, Chelsea's Frank Lampard, who was also missing from the game on Saturday with a thigh problem, is out of the Russia clash too. He is back at his club for treatment.
Monday was the first day back on the training ground for Steve McClaren's men, following their success at the weekend, and the rest of the squad did train.
