Steve McClaren has named his 26-man squad to face Israel and Russia in the crucial Euro 2008 qualification double header, with call-ups for Aston Villa forward Ashley Young and Blackburn Rovers' David Bentley.

While David Beckham's injury prevents the former England captain from returning to Wembley a month after playing 90 minutes against Germany, Frank Lampard will be eager to build on fine early season form that has seen him score in his last three consecutive games for club and country.

With Wayne Rooney injured and Peter Crouch suspended for the visit of Israel, Michael Owen, Alan Smith, Andrew Johnson and Jermain Defoe will provide the attacking options at McClaren's disposal for the first competitive England game at the new Wembley Stadium.

England have played Israel three times - all away from home - winning once in 1986, before two goalless draws in the two most recent meetings.

This will be England's first meeting with Russia as an independent country, the Three Lions last faced CIS in Moscow 15 years ago drawing 2-2 with goals from Gary Lineker and Trevor Steven.
