England will face Macedonia on Saturday in front of the biggest ever home crowd whilst on the road.

The match has now sold out with an attendance of over 71,000 due at Old Trafford for the European Championship qualifier.

The attendance will eclipse the previous record crowd for an England home match, excluding those at Wembley, recorded for the pre-World Cup friendly against Jamaica at Old Trafford in June.

Head Coach Steve McClaren said: "The dedication of the England fans is incredible and this is further proof that their support is unrivalled around the world. I would like to thank all those coming to Old Trafford on Saturday for continuing to give us their backing.

"All the staff and players are looking forward to playing in front of such a massive crowd and the atmosphere and noise they create will be a big boost as we take on Macedonia."

England have played in front of 70,000 or more fans away from Wembley on only three previous occasions. Crowds of 70,000 were recorded for matches against Northern Ireland in 1949 at Maine Road and in 1953 at Goodison Park while 70,373 attended England's match against Jamaica earlier this year.
