Ben joined Manchester United from Stoke City in July 2005, before making a single first-team appearance at the Britannia Stadium. He was then sent out on loan to Watford.

He was a vital part of the Hornets' promotion to the Premiership, and repaid the faith shown in him by Adrian Boothroyd during an incredible season at Vicarage Road.

On 26 May 2006, Ben capped a remarkable season when he was called on to the England standby list for the World Cup.

Ben has agreed to remain on-loan at Watford for the 2006/7 season.
