Sven's Christmas presents
Friday, 16 December 2005.
England Head Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has taken time out to visit Great Ormond Street Hospital to hand out gifts to some of the children who will be spending the festive period in hospital.
Sven visited the Hospital, where he is a patron, and divided his time between three wards. He visited Ladybird Ward, home to the Cardiothoracic unit, where children are admitted for various reasons including cardiac surgery and heart and lung transplants.
Among the children who Sven met with and delivered presents to were Christopher Smith, pictured left, and Harry Morris, pictured above, both ten-years-old and massive football fans.
Sven then took gifts to the Penguin Ward where children with rheumatological and dermatological conditions are cared for. He also visited the Clarence Ward where children undergoing orthopaedic and spinal surgery are looked after.
Sven said: "I am delighted to be able to visit Great Ormond Street Hospital again. The work done by all the staff at the hospital is wonderful and I am always amazed by the incredible spirit shown by the children who have had to endure so much in their young lives."
