TheFA.com warms up for Saturday's friendly against Argentina with a look at another meeting of the two rivals which saw the Three Lions lift the England Challenge Cup...
In an entertaining encounter at Wembley in the final game of the England Challenge Cup, a mini, three-team tournament which also included USSR, Graham Taylor's team let a two-goal lead slip, but still lifted the trophy.
Gary Lineker was on target to open the scoring after 15 minutes directing Stuart Pearce's deep cross past the stranded Goycochea for his 40th England goal.
Seven minutes after the break David Platt extended England's lead with another header from a Pearce cross.
England looked in control and were playing some neat football, but when Garcia scored with the game's third header from Mohammed's corner, Argentina were back in it.
The home side failed to heed the warnings of Argentina's aerial threat and seven minutes later they were level when Franco out-jumped England's defenders to power past Seaman.
