But what if you had to name the squad? And what if you had to name it now?

Over the next two weeks, we'll be putting you on the spot to name your 23, with a chance to win a pair of tickets for England's final World Cup Qualifier against Poland in October.

The first person to step up to the plate is, 18-year-old englandfan Andrew Gill, a Sheffield Wednesday fan from Nottingham.

Here's Andrew's 23 and his rationale behind each selection.

The Squad

Position Players
Goalkeepers Paul Robinson, Chris Kirkland, Nigel Martyn
Defenders Gary Neville, Ashley Cole, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher, JLloyd Samuel, Sol Campbell, Ledley King
Midfielders David Beckham, Joe Cole, Stevie Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Kieron Dyer, Stuart Downing, Jermaine Jenas, Leon Osman
Forwards Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe

The Reasoning

Goalkeepers

Paul Robinson - I believe he has done nothing wrong in his time as No. 1.

Chris Kirkland - If fit, he may be the best keeper in England.

Nigel Martyn - May be seen as backward step by some but he has a lot of experience and will help the other keepers in tournament conditions. He was in great form in his Champions League qualifying season at Everton.

Defenders

Gary Neville - He's a fans favourite, loves playing for his country and is great behind Beckham.

Ashley Cole - I would say is arguably the best left back in the world. He has great pace and his defensive work has got better.

John Terry - Man Mountain, will stop anything. He's been immense for Chelsea.

Rio Ferdinand - Cool, calm and composed. A great footballing centre back to compliment Terry's physicality.

Jamie Carragher - Consistent all season. He has to be in there and is versatile too.

JLloyd Samuel - Bridge has been injured too much for Chelsea and this man has been very consistent for Villa. He's dependable and good young cover for Cole.

Sol Campbell - Very physical, played top level for a long time and good in tournaments.

Ledley King - Superb in Portugal. Still young but vastly experienced and has played in midfield so can double as a holding player if needed.

Midfielders

David Beckham - Great captain, turns it on when needed.

Joe Cole - Was always skilful but now works hard too. Can play in centre if needed.

Stevie Gerrard - Captained Liverpool to win Champions League, one of the world's best midfielders.

Frank Lampard - Another one of the world's best. Opposing midfields will be hard pushed to stop him and Stevie.

Kieron Dyer - Very versatile, blistering pace to scare defenders.

Stewart Downing - Young, lacks experience but needs to be taken to get some. He's good cover for Joe and can beat players.

Jermaine Jenas - A more natural holding player, but very skilful. He's quick, a good tackler. More physical presence would be good but he's great cover.

Leon Osman - The surprise package. An unknown and untested player at international level, can play anywhere in the midfield. He's very skilful and not affected by pressure. He can change the course of the game.

Strikers

Michael Owen - England's best finisher. His goalscoring record speaks for itself.

Wayne Rooney - Powerful runner, will drop deeper than Owen and run at defenders. He's fearless and world-class.

Peter Crouch - Extra dimension. Not a starter but against the top class teams he is something they won't know how to cope with.

Jermain Defoe - Powerful, pacey and a good eye for goal. Ideal cover for Owen.

So what do you think of Andrew's squad? Agree? Disagree? Has he made a glaring omission?
