But what if you had to name the squad? And what if you had to name it now?

For a two week period we're putting you on the spot to name your 23, with a chance to win a pair of tickets for England's final World Cup qualifier against Poland in October.

We've got another line-up for you today as Spurs fan Simon Gover tells us who he'd have in his squad.

Here's his 23 and the rationale behind each selection.

The Reasoning

Goalkeepers

Paul Robinson - as a Tottenham and England Fan I can honestly say he is the best English Goalkeeper I have seen since Peter Shilton. His positioning and shot stopping are amazing and he very rarely makes an incorrect decision

Robert Green - I thought he had a good game against Colombia. He has shown that he can still make some good saves in a defensively frail team and he is young enough to still learn and improve.

Scott Carson - have never seen the third goalkeeper used in a major tournament but he is the England 'keeper for the future. Give him the touring experience he needs.

Defenders

John Terry
- rightly voted best player in the country last season, he would make it into any club or national team in the world in my opinion. I've never seen a defender with the ability to read the game like him.

Rio Ferdinand - had another fantastic season for Manchester United. His value has been proven time and time again. Would be alongside Terry in my starting line up as it looks like they would compliment each other.

Ashley Cole - he is simply the best English left back and has managed to maintain his standard of performance in a tricky season.

Gary Neville - the one thing that my squad lacks a little bit is experience, but Neville has been there and done it at all levels and his attacking play is still improving.

Sol Campbell - has proven that he is reliable and does the basics very well when in an England Shirt.

Wayne Bridge - offers an attacking option and a defensive option as a left back/midfielder. Has won the title this year and I firmly believe that 75% of the squad should come from the top 5 teams in the country.

Jamie Carragher - Had a fantastic season for Liverpool, and in Europe he has been the difference defensively. Would have no problem slotting him in any of the four defensive positions as he is very versatile.

Midfielders

David Beckham
- he would be the captain for me as well. Has set the bar so high for himself, but I still think he can be the difference between winning the World Cup and not.

Steven Gerrard - amazing both attacking and defending and currently I cannot think of a better midfielder in the world. Has the all round game.

Frank Lampard - scores goals for fun. I sometimes question his choice of passes but he creates and scores so many goals that I couldn't leave him out of the team.

Shaun Wright-Phillips - has shown that he is truly world class, single-handedly winning games for Man City at times this season. Would like to see him playing for a bigger club though before he made my starting 11.

Joe Cole - what a 2005 it has been for him; played lots and showed that he can use his tricks at the right time. Has that bit of magic sometimes lacking on the left.

Stewart Downing - Tight choice between him and Cole as to who would make my starting 11. I think he is a much more of a traditional winger, can cross a great ball and does the basics right. With a good header of the ball up front he would be an ideal choice.

Owen Hargreaves - has a fantastic knowledge of German and international football with Bayern, and I would tap into this as much as I could. Always battles hard and a good sub to bring on when we are winning.

Ledley King - A bit of bias here as a Spurs fan, but I do think Ledley could come and do a job as defensive midfield cover, and when the need arose he could also cover any position in the back line. If we got injuries/suspensions and you need an assured hand he would be good to have there.

Forwards

Michael Owen
- Would be in my starting 11 as he scores goals wherever he is playing; just look at his record for England, Real Madrid and Liverpool. An amazing talent and his still hungry for titles.

Wayne Rooney - Best talent since Pele. Enough said.

Jermain Defoe - Cracking individual striker who can create a goal from nothing. Great sub if you are one-nil down with 20 minutes to go.

Alan Smith - never seen a striker work as hard as Alan. Does not score enough goals but will always put 100% in and if either of Rooney or Owen were injured/suspended he would be in my starting 11. However would not use him as a sub as I feel his true value is to make defenders work hard for 90 minutes.

Emile Heskey - we have no other forward in the country that can hold the ball up or make his presence felt as well as Emile. Owen always scores more goals when partnered with him and I think we might have won Euro 2004 if we had put him on when Rooney got injured. The best sub to bring on if we are winning.

So what do you think of Simon's squad? Agree? Disagree? Has he made a glaring omission? Has he justified his selections?

If you can do better, send your 23 and the reasons for it to Editor@TheFA.com and, if it's good, we'll run it. One of the best selectors will win a pair of tickets to England v Poland. So get choosing! Entries accepted until Friday 01 July.
