Colombia will use the friendly match in New Jersey to prepare for important FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Peru and Ecuador the following week.

The Colombians, ranked number 28 in the FIFA World Rankings, lie in seventh place in the South American World Cup qualifying group.

In their last match they lost 1-0 away to Argentina but previous to that result Rueda's side beat Bolivia and drew away in Caracas to the much-improved Venezuelans.

The squad includes 13 foreign-based players, five of whom play in Europe, including Aston Villa forward Juan Pablo Ángel and Internazionale defender Iván Córdoba.
