Norwich keeper Robert Green playing his first match for England
'Life-changing experience'

Robert Green admitted making his England debut was a 'life-changing' experience after picking up his first cap in the 3-2 win over Colombia in New Jersey.
The Norwich goalkeeper has been in plenty of squads but had not got on the pitch until Tuesday, when he replaced David James for the second-half. And
although he was nervous from the moment he heard the team news, he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
"I knew when the team was announced that I'd be coming on at half-time. Obviously I'd have liked to have played the full game but it wasn't to be.
"Of course I was nervous, and it was worse watching the first half and knowing I was going on."
When he did get into the action, he faced a lively Colombian attack and made fine saves from Jair Benitez,
Luis Rey and Luis Perea.
But he nearly got caught out when a shot from Rey hit the bar, flew down and hit him and almost crossed the line before he caught it. "It was a barrage
at times - a bit like a normal game for Norwich!" he laughed.
"But it was great to be involved and thankfully I made some important saves. The coaching staff have been complimentary and said well done.
"To get an England debut is a life-changing experience and something no-one can take away from me."
Green's debut went some way to making up for the shattering blow of relegation with Norwich, and he knows his England chances could be enhanced by a move back to the Premiership, although he admits his future is uncertain.
"I'm going on holiday now, but it is something to think about when I get back. It is not an ideal situation to be
playing in the Championship.
"The Premiership is the place to play football, you can't deny that. If you look at the full England squad, there are very few players who are not regularly playing in the Champions League, let alone the Premiership.
"I got picked for one squad when I was in the Championship before, and David James got picked at West Ham. But I can't remember anyone else picked outside of the top division so if England aspirations come into it, then you've got to be proving yourself at the top level."
