England left-back Ashley Cole has piled praise on Three Lions boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, saying the England players 'love him' and want to win the World Cup for him.
As England prepare to face Denmark in Copenhagen this evening, Cole noted the large influence Sven has had on his career to date.
"Sven has been very influential because he gave me the chance for England," said the livewire left back. "I don’t think I would have been anywhere near getting a chance for England if Sven wasn’t the manager.
"He gave all the young ones a buzz and a belief that it doesn’t matter how old you are, if you’re playing well for your club then you’re good enough to play for England."
And with the World Cup coming at the end of the season it would be the perfect opportunity to repay the England Coach’s faith.
"He’s a great manager and a great guy and we all want to win the World Cup for him," he confirmed.
"The way he treats and respects the players is a big influence. All the players love him - I think he gets the best out of us and is improving English football.
"All the players owe him something and hopefully we can do it for him."
